A good account of the times, circa 1840, in an industry & area now considered to be an embarrassment.Turnbull had a lot of fortitude & stubbornness with great foresight & concern for his fellow man.
It was not really easy or fascinating reading-I bought it as I wanted to know what he in particular, had to say about slavery & Cuba & conditions in that era.
